Shaping Burlington

Connecting Citizens and City

About Us

Shaping Burlington is an independent citizens committee dedicated to recommending ways that will best enable residents to become more engaged in their communities and empowered to effectively communicate their concerns to City Hall. One of our goals is more timely citizen involvement in the decision-making activities of local government.

Shaping Burlington is a successor organization to the Mayor’s Citizen Advisory Committee on Civic Engagement, which spent three months in early 2010 working with Burlington residents, City Hall staff and members of Council to produce its blueprint for municipal renewal.

The Shape Burlington Report – was presented to the Mayor, City Council and the community in April 2010 and approved in principle by City Council in July 2010. The report contained eight recommendations designed to help Burlington navigate the future and can be found on the Shape Burlington website along with other information about Shape Burlington.

Shaping Burlington, which is made up of former Shape Burlington members, is circulating a questionnaire to all declared candidates for the 2010 Burlington municipal election to gauge the support of these candidates for the Shape Burlington report’s recommendations. The responses to this questionnaire will be made available to the public through publication on the Shaping Burlington website as soon as possible after candidates submit them.
